Every Summer has a Story
We are on the final leg of the season saga! I am so thrilled to finally get to discuss one of the most beautiful seasons for sunsets, greenery and warmth. Summer is a hectic time for families all around Ithe world. Whether it be chasing to sports, having barbecues, or meeting up with old friends, it seems to be my families most active time of year! I love the positivity, the warmth, the smiles, and absolutely everything that brings on this feeling of pure blissful joy. The sunny season doesn't only give way for discussion and debate about the new 'song of the summer' though, but the capabilities for photography are also endless. In the midwest, we spend a lot of our year either in winter or in between seasons, so something about summer is just so special! In this blog, I’ll discuss what exactly that is, and just why you may need your next session to fall in the summer months!
Unpredictability in weather is something I’ve discussed many times in the previous season posts. The benefit of summer is that at times it provides a little bit more consistency. The only real surprise summer can bring is a scattered shower or big storm, but even then it’s pretty easy to tell when the weather is growing dreary. One of the greatest benefits of summer weather is there is much more light in the day. Unlike fall and spring, the summer days are longer and give much more ample opportunity for potential sessions. I know we are all so busy with work and sports schedules for kids, but these longer days really have their perks!
The summer is also great for outdoors inspired sessions. Things like sunflowers, lakes, beaches, are all things I see people take up in the summertime! Best of all, you won’t have to worry about any little ones being too cold, as there really aren’t many chilly summer days.
As for summer clothing, it’s best to dress in loose clothing. This ensures you will not get too hot, and it also fits that summer vibe! I encourage families to lean into those lighter colors, like whites and light blues, as that all feels like it fits very much into that ‘fun in the sun’ energy!
The summer offers a lot of consistency but also versatility, and can be perfect for photography. You won’t have to worry so much about weather, and your backdrop is almost guaranteed to be gorgeous. I’m telling you, the surrounding greenery is something straight out of a fairytale! Everything seems so fresh and vibrant, and I think foliage adds such a charm to photography sessions. If you’ve never braved a session in the warmer months, I truly encourage you to look into it! Summer can offer some of the nicest evenings, along with the most beautiful sunsets as well. The possibilities are absolutely endless!
